Cake for Coach

This was technically my first "ordered" cake I suppose, ordered by the PE coach from my school. He wanted yellow cake with chocolate buttercream. I started out with a completely different design but ended up with this one after realizing I was not at all going to be able to accomplish what I had wanted to. Oh well! I've been watching Ace of Cakes and I went on their website http://www.charmcitycakes.com/. Super inspiring! Another incredible website is http://www.variedadesdalila.com/Especiales.htm
It's a Venezuelan lady with an amazing talent for decorating cakes. I would love to one day (very far away) get somewhere just a little bit close to these talented cake decorators.

Etsy Website

Well, I finally have my sweets up for sell on an Ebay-like website called etsy.com. The only difference is that it's for handmade items. Let's see if this works. Click on a picture to be taken to the website. If it doesn't work, just go to www.miamorsweets.etsy.com

Viviana's Cake

This cake was made for a friend from Argentina who just came back to the States. The best part is not the outside, but the inside - Devil's food chocolate with Dulce de Leche filling. Yum!

Cake for Garden City Rescue Mission

This cake is very special to me because it was a shared creation by me and my mom! Then she sent it to the Garden City Rescue Mission. We did it in the last class of the first Wilton cake decorating class. It was a lot of fun, and although my mom says she goes to the class just to spend time with me, she makes sure I don't do anything to mess up our cakes! And a special thanks to her for the beautiful photos she's taken of all my sweets.

More Cupcake Bouquets

Well, this weekend I finally got around to working on some cupcake designs I've had whirling in my head recently.

These sunflower cupcakes, complete with ladybugs were actually taken from Karen Tack's book "Hello Cupcake!" which is filled with the cutest ideas for cupcakes.

You can't tell, but Pookie, my dog, ate half of one of the cupcakes in the back. At least I know they meet her approval :P

This bouquet was actually designed with my mom, Sharon, in mind.

Gabriel, my husband, actually gave me the idea for this flower. He loves Ferrero Rocher chocolate (I guess we all do).

According to my mom, chrysanthemums don't normally come in blue, but I just thought it might go nice with the yellow mug.

Curtis Open House Cupcakes, Feb. 12, 2009

This was one of a group of mini cupcakes that I made for Curtis Baptist's open house. It was a lot of fun to make, but I'm not sure how long that worm's gonna be able to win against gravity!

Here is the whole lot of cupcakes. The blue books say faith, hope, and love, representing the message of Curtis for their students.

Valentine 2009 Cupcakes

I made these for my class, my mom's class, and another teacher's class, about 60 in total. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a photo of them displayed on the cupcake stand.

Cupcake Bouquets Valentine's 2009

This Valentine's Day of 2009, I experimented with cupcake bouqets. These two mini carnation bouquets were made with love for Mrs. Ham and Mrs. King, two coworkers at my school. I used out-of-the-box Devil's food chocolate cake and made buttercream icing.

This was made for my parapro, Mrs. Barnes. It turned out the best, in my opinion, so of course it had to go for her. hers has more yellow cake with sprinkles than Devil's food cake.

This bouquet seemed a lot cuter in person than in this photo, but the neat thing was, one of the staff at my mother's school bought it right there on the spot for his daughter. So, I guess Mi Amor Sweets has officially opened!
